Servicing and Restoration

It may be convenient, when you are not using your car for you to have work done on it whilst it is in our care. We are totally flexible regarding the scope of work that we can undertake for you with our own in-house workshop, Autowerke. This may be simple routine maintenance - brake or exhaust servicing for instance or more specialised maintenance or repairs that we can undertake ourselves or engage the local distributors or importers for your marque. We can also offer specialised restoration and renovation services, which we will refer to our network of approved restorers. These include one-make specialists and specialists with particular skills - panel beating, re-trimming, glazing, plating etc - as specified.

All work is estimated in advance for your approval, and we will exercise strict cost and work quality control on your behalf where sub-contactors are engaged. Exactly the same care is taken over correction of faults discovered during our weekly or monthly inspections. These are immediately reported to you, with an estimate, for your instructions to proceed with rectification.

Insurance

During its stay in our care, you should maintain Fire, Theft and Accidental Damage (storage cover) insurance for the vehicle with your Insurers. You should both advise them that the vehicle is in our hands, and give us details of your Insurer and Policy Number in case we need to consult them in your absence.

Should you prefer to cease your insurance, we shall be pleased to arrange suitable cover via our own Insurers at very competitive rates, which are probably lower than private customers would be quoted.

TheAutostore has, of course, full Motor Trades Insurance cover for all of our and our employees liabilities towards your property while in our care or being transported by our staff. 

MOT and Car Taxation

An integral part of TheAutostore service is to take the inconvenience of car documentation bureaucracy out of your hands whilst we care for your car. If your car is not to be used on the road for some months, it is a sensible saving to rescind the Car Tax, and to re-Tax the car when taken out of store. We will do all that is necessary with the DVLC for you, crediting your account with the refund to be used when re-licensing the car.

The same applies to your insurance, which should be reduced to Fire, Theft and Accidental damage (storage cover) whilst in our care, but which, if you so instruct your broker, we can arrange to be restored to your normal level of cover at the appropriate time for re-licensing and return of the car.

The probability is that if your car is over three years old and is stored for more than a few months, its MOT certificate will expire while it is in our care. We will give the car a pre-test inspection, reporting any relevant defects to you for instructions, and then arrange its MOT test and any post test rectification in good time for the car's return to you, thus giving the longest possible Certificate life after storage.
